Energy efficiency  & renewable energy

After investing in energy efficient technology for our Wellingborough site, all areas are now fitted with new LED lighting, which is movement sensor controlled to reduce our overall energy consumption. We are also committed to reducing our energy usage, and we are exploring ways in which we can harness the increased use of solar energy.

Waste reduction

Our waste management programme focuses on minimising waste through recycling initiatives. We compact all our waste cardboard & polythene into mill size bales which are transferred directly to the recycling mills. In addition, our contract packing operation converts a proportion of its waste cardboard into void filler for use in our 3PL picking process, eliminating the transport element included in purchasing void filler from an external source. We are committed to reducing landfill waste by optimising packaging materials and re-using resources wherever possible.

Electric vehicles

We have recently replaced our range of diesel vehicles, and have switched to EV company vehicles, with an on-site charging station installed.

Sustainable materials

We prioritise the use of eco-friendly and sustainably sourced materials in our warehouse operations, recently adding the use of vegetable ink for some printed cartons. 
Our new WMS, installed for controlling stock, operates as a paperless system. In addition, by using re-usable tags, which replace the need for printing pallet labels, our initiatives ensure we operate with minimal environmental impact.

Employee engagement

We actively engage our team in sustainability practices through training and awareness programmes. By encouraging everyone to contribute to our environmental goals, our BRC operating procedures now include set targets on waste reduction, the results of which are included in our annual audit.
